A Little Hippy-ness

What woman doesn’t want to have long flowing hair? Even if we say we like our short hair, to have hair that flows in the wind and turns a man’s head ever so slightly…that’s what we all want. Don’t try to deny it!! Now I agree we don’t want to deal with the upkeep of it or if you’re like me your hair rebels after about a year of trying to grow it out…and if you are one of my peeps you know I long for that beautiful hippy hair! But such is life. I will just have to make due with what God gave me…. and blog about the beautiful hippy hair I covet. Peace. BB

Rejuvenating Organic Strawberry Facial

Strawberry Facial for the Hot Summer Days of July

Strawberries are the epitome of summer. With July upon us, I thought it fitting for a post of an Organic Strawberry Facial! Fresh fruit facials can be just what the Aesthetician ordered; the live, active ingredients can not be surpassed and the simple fact of knowing where your products have come from (your kitchen!) is not only comforting but cost effective as well!
***Please note: it is imperative that you’re using organic strawberries. If you are using conventional grown berries, you might as well not perform the facial. I understand this may seem a bit dramatic, but I promise the way the conventional berries are grown is NOT conducive with a healthy life style, let alone a fresh facial recipe.***

Following is a recipe I found in a vintage skin and body book by the name of The Calendar Book of Beauty. No doubt long ago being out of print I have savored this book for years and years. I found it at one of my favorite second hand shops. I will be sharing something new, from this book, every month. Check in often and see what I have for you to try!
The recipe is very simple and I have added my own twist just to make it mine. Ready? Here we go!

¼ tablespoon French Green Clay           French green clay (Montmorillonite)

One cup freshly mashed ORGANIC strawberries

Lemons

One teaspoon fresh squeezed organic lemon juice (**note, I am not as strict on having an organic lemon, as the fruit is protected by the rind. I would prefer organic but it is permissible to use conventional if that is all you have).

Following are the essential oils specifically for your individual skin type: (***please note NONE of these oils should be used during pregnancy; use Lavender in place of any oil your skin type calls for***).

Oily Skin
1 drop Ylang Ylang

Dry Skin
1 drop Geranium

Sensitive Skin
1 drop Basil

Combination Skin
1 drop Geranium

Bohemian...

Mix all ingredients, apply to clean dry face, grab your favorite magazine and kick your feet up for a much deserved pampering moment. Then, show off your Boho Beautiful self to the world!

You Can Find Me in the Bath

I have memories of me and a certain Mother-in-Law laying in the sun, pouring over interior design magazines ripping out every other page it seemed. We wouldn’t care so much about “matching” or the color scheme going with our last ripped out page. We just had a heart for design. These photos reflect that eclectic love we showed so many moons ago on the beaches of Spader Bay in Chelan Washington. Enjoy. ~BB

Just take a Moment

Bohemian is not a style or fad. It is way of life. It’s keeping your head in the clouds and your feet on the ground. It means knowing in your heart that the best way to live is to do just that: live. I am the first to admit I do get “caught up in the trim work”. But God always pull me back on track. Life in America is so busy. The simple things in life are put to the way side: butterflies, flowers, country side homesteads, sunsets and eagles are the just a few of the small things that should be noticed everyday. These were all created by God Himself for us to enjoy. They are REAL. May these photos inspire you to look Up and take a deep breath and notice the REAL world around you.  These pictures are pulled from my own photography collection. Enjoy. Peace. BB

The Beginning of a Bohemian Fairytale

These pictures are the beginning of a dream finally started after a very long period of being “not the right time”! I would NEVER have been able to do it without the help of some very special people (you know who you are). Thank God for loved ones.
